Wireless has been named a 2002 Paper Anvil Award winner
by the Public Relations Society of America Nebraska Chapter.
Cricket and its public relations firm Ayres Kahler were
recognized for successfully launching the new wireless product
in the Omaha market in October 2001.
Cricket Comfortable Wireless was
created in 1999 and launched into more than 20 markets in
2001. Based on sales figures and market awareness, Omaha
was deemed one of the most successful launches by Cricket
parent company Leap Wireless International, Inc of San Diego,
Calif. Concepts and tactics designed by Ayres Kahler and
Cricket's Nebraska management team have been replicated
by Leap in other markets.
With Cricket service, customers
can make unlimited calls over the Omaha or Lincoln service
area for one low price of just $32.99 a month, or get both
areas for just $7.99 a month more. Cricket customers can
call long distance anywhere for a little more Ð just 8 cents
per minute to anywhere in the United States and just 18
cents a minute anytime to anywhere in Mexico or Canada.
The service offers text messaging, voicemail, caller ID,
three-way calling and call waiting for a small additional
monthly fee. The extra value Cricket Talk rate plan is $39.99
a month, which includes unlimited local calls, 500 minutes
of U.S. long distance and a three-feature package (including
caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling). Marketed
as Comfortable Wireless, Cricket service is an affordable
wireless alternative to traditional landline service, and
appeals to people completely new to wireless too Ð from
students to young families and local business people.
